Montreal Alouettes 2014 Schedule Announced

The Canadian Football League released its schedule earlier today for all of its teams and the Montreal Alouettes will open their 2014 Regular Season on June 28 in Calgary.

The Alouettes start the season with four games at Percival Molson Stadium out of their first six. They also get early road trips to Calgary and Vancouver to get them out of the way before August ends.

The other side of that is that the Alouettes, for the second straight year, finish the season with three road games in the final four weeks of their season including a trip against each of their Eastern Division rivals. Those four games will undoubtedly be important for playoff positioning if not for playoff spots.

The Alouettes home opener will be July 4 against the British Columbia Lions. They will play the expansion Ottawa RedBlacks for the first time on August 29 when they visit Montreal. Their first trip to Ottawa will be all the way in September. They also host the RedBlacks in their final preseason game so they will get a look at the expansion team early.

Shea Emry returns to Molson Stadium with his Toronto Argonauts on August 1. Because of the lack of home games late in the season, the team only has three Sunday games. Once school starts at McGill, the Alouettes are shifted to Sunday games because McGill needs the field on Friday’s and it takes at least 24 hours to get everything set up for fans and for television.

The second half of the season also has their typical Monday afternoon Thanksgiving game. This year the Saskatchewan Roughriders will be the visiting team. Interestingly, nine of the Alouettes 18 games are on Friday night.
