Dustin Tokarski To Replace Carey Price
By Jared Book
Dustin Tokarski will get the start in tonight’s Game 2 between the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers.
Tokarski has won a Memorial Cup, Calder Cup and World Junior Gold Medal*. He’s no stranger to pressure situations. I’m sure any Canadian hockey fan can remember Pierre McGuire’s freakout when Tokarski made a great save against Team USA. In fact, that’s what I think about any time I hear his name.
*I saw Tokarski with his Gold Medal in the Saskatoon airport. We were on the same flight from Calgary to Saskatoon.
You could argue that Tokarski wasn’t the reason those teams won. And I would agree. I will also add that he doesn’t need to be the reason the Canadiens win this round. In fact, if the Canadiens rely on him to win, quite simply, they won’t.
This is not the best case scenario for the Canadiens, but if nothing else it may help them get their head on straight and play a complete game.
Alex Galchenyuk will rejoin the lineup as well. He will replace Michael Bournival which means that he will likely play with Tomas Plekanec and Thomas Vanek.
