The signing of Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Piatti changed the season for the Impact. At the time he came to Montreal, the club was in the midst of a seven game losing streak in MLS. Now I say ‘came to Montreal’ and not ‘acquired by’ or ‘signed by’ because his joining the team was not without its speed bumps; he stayed with his Argentine club, San Lorenzo longer than expected and made comments in a postgame interview stating that he wanted to play in a big market such as New York or Miami.
However, once Piatti hit the pitch, the IMFC fans saw why he was so highly thought of by management. The 29-year-old has impressed in pretty much every game he’s played in and his pace and vision are world class.
Piatti’s biggest accomplishment though, has been reviving star striker Marco Di Vaio. Since Piatti joined, Di Vaio has doubled his goal and assist totals on the year.
